23rd September 03 – Leeds, UK - Workplains Ltd. today announced the successful implementation of
Work+® BPM
Suite Version 1.2 for Barrett Steel Ltd.
Barrett Steel Limited is one of the UK's largest independent
steel stockholders, carrying over 55,000 tonnes of general steel and
special products across their twenty plus sites. Their steel processing
facilities include a full cutting service, shotblast and priming,
profiling and laser processing facilities. Barrett steel ltd. holds quality
assurance approvals to BS EN ISO 9002:1994. With sites across
England,
good motorway access and a large fleet of vehicles ranging from 3 tonne
wagons to articulated units, Barrett Steel is the stockholder to meet
construction industries requirements.
Barrett Steel Ltd. is now using WORK+® software to automate their
operational and production processes through WORK+®. Jason Dorsey IT
Manager for Barrett Steel Ltd. describes WORK+® as:
“Within
Barrett Steel Buildings we use many different software systems to meet the
varying needs of the different departments within the business. Some of
these software systems are standard tools used within the structural steel
industry and some are bespoke systems which have been developed in-house.
Like many companies today we realized that integration was an important
issue because it was easy to see that the inability of our systems to
communicate was creating significant problems with both accuracy and
efficiency around the whole business. It was clear to us that in order to
tackle this issue we would need to either develop something ourselves or
we would need to buy another system to solve the problem for us.
After looking at several workflow/integration packages we chose Work+®
as we felt that it offered us a unique ‘best of both worlds’ solution.
Choosing Work+®
offered us the ability to immediately create workflow processes, to mirror
our existing manual business processes, using the friendly and simple to
use development interface. Just as importantly for us we would be able to
use Work+®
as a development platform, alongside traditional development tools such as
Microsoft Visual Basic and COM+, for developing our own future systems.
The ability to use Work+®
as both an application for quickly creating workflow processes and a
development platform make it a very powerful tool.“
Workplains WORK+® is becoming increasingly
popular in construction industry
of UK and with inclusion of Barrett Steel as a client Workplains see this
trend will only increase. Construction sector is seen to be conservative
by many BPM vendors while Workplains is winning new friends. Workplains is also taking initiatives to deliver
industry processes for construction industry which will include prototype
of Cold Rolled process.
